This is an excellent cookbook with down-to-earth commentary, helpful health information, and delicious recipes that can expand your palate and meet any special dietary needs. There are colorful pictures and good information on pregnancy and necessary nutrient need s in an easy to read format. I found the list of pregnancy super food and the explanation very informative. And the symptom guide in the back with reference to recipes to manage different side effects of pregnancy is fantastic. It is hard enough to eat healthfully when you feel well, so knowing where to go when you don't feel you best is very helpful.There is thoughtful consideration of special dietary needs and a lovely collection of multi-cultural foods and recipes sure to please the family. A variety of preparation and cook times are included to meet busy weeknight meals or more relaxed weekends.I cannot wait to try all the recipes in this book with our growing family.Good purchase for pregnancy and beyond!Great book for a cook during a first pregnancy Excellent little cookbook. My wife is pregnant with our first, so of course we bought every book under the sun.I take care of most of the cooking, and these first few weeks of morning sickness and appetite change have made my normal go-tos not as good for her.This book is filled with nutritious recipes that mostly fall into the categories that she doesn't find suddenly horrible (which is great!) I can tell we'll be using this daily for next 30 weeks or so. Everything from smoothies and soups and snacks-- enough variety to keep things interesting.Definitely recommend.Great companion for a healthy pregnancy If you want to eat healthy and stay healthy during your pregnancy, good nutrition is a sound start and this book will get you there. This book is aimed to ensure that the mom feels good, but its main point is to guide the mom to good nutrition with wholesome food and advice on what to expect as the pregnancy progresses to term. While the book will have vegetarian and vegan meals, the reader should not be expecting a book full of recipes for these diets. Instead this book will have recipes primarily for mom, but plenty of recipes that the whole family can enjoy. I found this book to be addressing a niche that is often overlooked and provides an important support for moms during pregnancy. Not only are the meals healthy, but they tend to be easy to prepare, ensuring that mom does not have to spend too much time in the kitchen.I received a free copy from the publisher.
